WHAT IS SURROGACY ?

Surrogacy is an arrangement, often supported by a legal agreement, whereby a woman(the surrogate) agrees to carry and give birth to a child on behalf of another person or couple (the intended parent/s). People may seek a surrogacy arrangement when a couple do not wish to carry a pregnancy themselves, when pregnancy is medically impossible, when pregnancy risks are dangerous for the intended mother, or when a single man or a male couple wish to have a child.

Types of surrogacy?

When considering surrogacy, one of the first decisions hopeful parents and potential surrogates have to make is the type of surrogacy they want to pursue.

There are two primary types: gestational and traditional surrogacy, which are differentiated by the genetic origin of the egg. Gestational surrogacy tends to be more common than traditional surrogacy and is considered less legally complex

Traditional surrogacy

The surrogate mother provides her own eggs, which is inseminated through Intrauterine Insermination(IUI) with the intend father's sperm. Since the baby is biologically the surrogate mother's own child, there may be future issues concerning the child's future right to information about her identity.

Here's what a simplified version of the traditional surrogacy process is usually like for surrogates and intended parents:

  • Step 1: Meet the eligibility requirements and complete the screening processes with Mlang Surrogacy.
  • Step 2: Locate your surrogacy match.
  • Step 3: Create a surrogacy contract with your surrogate and your attorneys.
  • Step 4: Complete the medical processes.
  • Step 5: Prepare for the baby’s arrival.
  • Step 6: Complete whatever post-birth legal measures (these can vary depending on country/state laws and more).

Gestational surrogacy

Gestational surrogacy takes place when an embryo created by in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology is implanted in a surrogate, sometimes called a gestational carrier.  Gestational surrogacy has several forms, and in each form, the resulting child is genetically unrelated to the surrogate.

Which forms?

  • The embryo is created using the intended father's sperm and the intended mother's eggs;
  • The embryo is created using the intended father's sperm and a donor egg;
  • The embryo is created using the intended mother's egg and donor sperm;
  • A donor embryo is transferred to a surrogate. Such an embryo may be available when others undergoing IVF have embryos left over, which they donate to others. The resulting child is genetically unrelated to the intended parent(s)

Traditional surrogacy

 The following people may consider traditional surrogacy:

  • Single men;
  • Gay couples;
  • Intended mothers who can't produce healthy eggs;
  • Heterosexual couples’ female partner is unable to carry the child inside her womb.

Due to the fact that most of our Filipino surrogate mothers are single and the Philippine laws are friendly for single women to get pregnant, most of the local Filipino intended fathers will choose traditional surrogacy.

Also, some of the intended parents from Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong will also choose traditional surrogacy.

Gestational Surrogacy Only

Designed for intended parents who can provide the needed biology, but require the assistance of a gestational surrogate. This means that you will either use your own eggs and sperm to create embryos – or have already created your embryos – but you are not able to carry a baby term, due to infertility or a prior medical diagnosis such as cancer; or perhaps you're a same sex couple with embryos already created and you simply need our help in finding a gestational surrogate.

Gestational Surrogacy and Egg Donation
This program is for intended parents who require egg donation for gestational surrogacy to create embryos and need a gestational surrogate to carry the baby(ies) to term. Intended parents will need to match with an egg donor to provide her eggs (and sometimes, a sperm donor as well) so that embryos can be created. The embryos will then be transferred into a gestational carrier's uterus.

Your total costs is fertility clinic (IVF) costs +egg donation costs + surrogacy costs;

Egg Donation Only

If you are able to carry a baby to term, however you require a donor egg to create embryos, you may use our Egg Donation Only program. Intended parents will match with an egg donor who will have an egg retrieval, embryos will be created at the IVF clinic and transferred to the intended mother's uterus.

Your total costs is fertility clinic (IVF) costs +egg donation costs;

Dual Journey – Surrogacy Only or Surrogacy with Egg Donation
In a dual journey, intended parents will have two gestational surrogates carrying babies in staggered journeys. Intended parents wishing to have two children through surrogacy may choose this option which can be more medically advisable than a surrogate carrying twins.

We have a program that fits your needs to grow your family. Our experienced team can talk you through the different options and see which is best for you. If you're interested in our surrogacy program, please email us.
